Why we suffer

“Suffering is the movement from the ‘what is’ to our notion of the ‘what should be’.

This constant arises when one tries to move from How it is to How I’d rather it be, from thinking This is bad to How can I improve it, from I don’t like this to How I would prefer it to be – this is the struggle that has gone on in the human mind for thousands of years.

 

When we haven’t got something we want – we CRAVE it

When we get something we want – we CLING to it

When we identify something we don’t want we create – an AVERSION to it

All three of the above are SUFFERING

 

Acceptance of “what is” here, right now, is to Embrace Yourself.

Whatever is going on, if an emotion comes up, then we have been taught to :-

Resist it

Change it

Block it

Stop it

Distract yourself from it

Avoid it

Run away from it

Blame somebody or something else for it

Anything but feel it.

 

We were never taught to “Experience” emotions.

There is No Growth in handling HURT using any of the list above and living without growth is not what we are here for !!!!

 

BY RESISTING WE WILL NEVER BE FREE.

 

INSTEAD

Become fully Aware of it

Pay full Attention to it

Sit in the raw experience of it

It will become a joy thru Grace as it lifts.

 

JOY AND HURT ARE TWO SIDES OF THE SAME COIN

 

Embracing yourself as you are is the first step and the last step. You must be who you are. What you should be is not important. Whoever you are, you are unique. The universe has designed you like that. The Divine has made you like that. To object to what you are experiencing is to tell The Divine that He has got it wrong and you want to take over now so as to put it “right” your way.

Ask yourself, Why do you disturb his work?

 

To surrender to the Divine is to be Yourself.       To be Yourself is to be Enlightened.

When you fully and completely accept who you are ……. then you are FREE.
